SUMMARY:Philosophy Study Group
DESCRIPTION:We are in the process of reading A New Stoicism by Lawrence Becker. He is continuing his arguments that virtue is the only good\, at least for psychologically healthy people. Alas\, there’s always a catch.

SUMMARY:MIA Book Tour (**date changed**)
DESCRIPTION:One of the most popular gallery walks at the Minneapolis Institute of Art is called a Book Tour.  That is\, a book of fiction or social commentary is selected for consideration.  The docent highlights brief aspects of the book and proceeds to fashion a creative link between the reading and a work of art. The book selected for this year’s MISF gallery walk will be Scholars Without Walls: A History of the Minnesota Independent Scholars’ Forum (see Bulletin Board). \nBrief selections from the book will be read by the author and the docent will imaginatively relate the excerpt to a work of art from the museum’s collection.  Bob and Lucy Brusic will be guides for the evening’s BookTour. All are welcome\, especially those who have not yet had a chance to read the book.

SUMMARY:History Study Group
DESCRIPTION:We are going to read the book The Second Coming of the KKK: The Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s and the American Political Tradition (2017) by Linda Gordon. This book is available in paperback for around $17 and as an ebook for $11. Since this is a relatively short book\, we’ve decided to cover the whole book in one session. \nThis book was selected as one of the top 20 history books of 2018 by the Amazon book review editor. If they had selected the top History Study Groups\, I’m sure we would have come out on top.
